Facts about Expanding Horizons Educational Field Trip Program
Vision: To create unique learning opportunities for local youth.

Mission: Provide a positive and nontraditional learning experience through educational field trips.

Motto: "Changing Lives, One Trip at a Time"

What do we do?
  • Local educational trips and programs
  • National educational trips

How are participants enrolled?
  • Faculty and staff from local schools select students
  • Parents/Guardians contact staff for registration information

Program Schedule:
  • One Saturday per month, August - April

Meeting Location:
  • The Atlanta Hawks Reading and Learning Zone and the Cabela's Learning Dock, both located at the Roberts School Community and Education Center

Transportation:
  • Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Department Bus and Van​

Program Demographics:
  • Number of participants: 75
  • Grades: 4th- 12th
  • Schools: Acworth Intermediate, Barber Middle School, Awtrey Middle School, and North Cobb High School and other Acworth area schools.
Facts about Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program
Vision: To create a positive and supportive environment for local youth.

Mission: Provide educational assistance, recreational activities, mentorship and foster servant leadership.

What do we do?
  • Mentor
  • Tutor
  • Service projects & community service
  • Guest speakers
  • College tours
  • A lot of FUN activities

2024 Program Schedule:
  • Tuesday's & Thursday's
    • ​4:30 - 6:30 PM

How are participants enrolled?
  • Faculty and staff from local schools select students
  • Parents/Guardians contact staff for registration information

Meeting Location:

  • Grades: 6th- 12th

Jordon Gonzalez
Program Coordinator

Jordon Gonzalez graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology - Applied Fitness and Active Lifestyle Development and a Master's Degree in Sport Management. Jordon has been with the Acworth Expanding Horizons program since 2019 and is passionate about providing life-changing experiences and opportunities for Acworth's youth.

Assistant Program Coordinator

Trey was originally born in New Jersey, then moved to Acworth, Georgia, when he was 10. He has grown up through recreational activities and has worked for the City of Acworth for just about 9 years, starting out as a Counselor in Training. In his free time, Trey enjoys traveling, fashion design, live music, festivals, food, anime, and walks with his dog Marley.
